The All-Purpose Cleaner uses grapefruit seed extract and orange peel extract as primary active cleaning agents alongside plant-based surfactants. Grapefruit seed extract has documented antimicrobial properties and contributes natural cleaning efficacy. Orange peel extract (d-limonene) is an effective degreaser derived from citrus processing byproduct, making it both functional and a sustainable use of food industry waste.

The environmental profile of Biokleen is strong. The active cleaning agents are non-persistent in the environment — d-limonene and grapefruit seed extract biodegrade readily in wastewater treatment systems without contributing to aquatic toxicity or bioaccumulation. The formula is concentrated, meaning more cleaning performance per volume of product purchased and significantly less plastic packaging waste per cleaning task compared to ready-to-use sprays.

The primary limitation to note is citrus sensitivity. D-limonene is a known sensitizer for a subset of users — people with eczema, contact dermatitis, or citrus sensitivities may react to repeated skin exposure from using citrus-extract cleaners without gloves. This is not a widespread concern for the general population, but it is worth noting for households with known sensitivities. The citrus scent of the product is natural and from the d-limonene itself rather than added synthetic fragrance, which means it is less likely to cause broad-spectrum fragrance reactions.

For dilution and use, Biokleen concentrate should be diluted per the label instructions — the concentrate is more potent than it appears and a small amount goes a long way.
