Hydro Flask Water Bottle

Hydro Flask bottles feature an 18/8 stainless steel interior with no plastic lining, which is the appropriate material for a safe daily water bottle. The double-wall TempShield vacuum insulation keeps cold drinks cold for up to 24 hours and hot drinks warm for up to 12 hours. The insulation layer is a vacuum — no material at all — so there is nothing between the walls to leach or degrade.

The exterior powder coat is an epoxy-based paint applied to the outside of the bottle. Because it is on the exterior and not in contact with the beverage, it does not pose a food-safety concern. Powder coat can chip with heavy impacts, but this does not affect the interior stainless surface.

The lid and straw accessories are the one area to pay attention to. Standard wide-mouth lids use polypropylene, which is food-grade but still plastic. Straw lid accessories bring polypropylene into direct contact with the beverage stream. If minimizing all plastic contact is a priority, choose a lid design that keeps the polypropylene away from the liquid surface — wide-mouth lids where you drink directly from the stainless rim are preferable to straw lids.
