Stainless steel food containers and Pyrex glass containers are both chemically inert, PFAS-free, and among the safest food storage materials available. The comparison between them is about practical use, not safety concern differences — both rate 'best' for material safety.
Pyrex glass is microwave-safe, oven-safe, and transparent, allowing easy visual inspection of contents without opening. It is non-reactive with all food types and dishwasher-safe. The trade-off is weight and breakability: glass containers are heavier than stainless, and they can shatter if dropped.
Stainless steel containers are lighter, essentially unbreakable, and excellent for packed lunches, picnics, and portable food transport. They are also safe in the freezer and dishwasher. The limitation is that stainless cannot go in a microwave, so food must be transferred to a different container for heating. For meal prep that involves oven cooking and microwave reheating, glass is more practical. For lunch boxes, hiking, or any situation where portability and drop-resistance matter, stainless is the better fit. Both are lifetime containers that never need replacing due to chemical degradation.
